The clash between Jallus Foodstuffs Thrissur Legends and KCC Kanhangad Bulls at DCS You Selects Arena 1 turned into a one-sided affair, as the Legends delivered a commanding 47-run victory. Opting to bat first, the Thrissur outfit posted 160/8, a total built on partnerships and clever batting against disciplined spells. The Bulls, in reply, faltered under scoreboard pressure, folding for 113 in 17.4 overs despite pockets of resistance. The Legends began shakily when Prasanth Asokan fell first ball, but Linesh and Sreenath K stabilized the innings with fluent strokes. Linesh’s 26 off 19 balls and Sreenath’s 21 from 16 provided early momentum. Captain Giri Nair led from the front with 36 off 24 deliveries, striking three fours and two sixes to keep the innings alive through the middle overs. Wicketkeeper Jereesh Jalaludeen added a brisk 12, and Leander Daryl Paul chipped in with 16, though both fell just as they threatened to extend their stays.
The finishing touches came from Rashid Rasheed, whose unbeaten 28 off 24 balls anchored the tail-end resistance. Chasing 161 was always going to be demanding, but the Bulls’ innings collapsed under sustained pressure. The middle order, however, fell apart once Leander Daryl Paul removed key batsmen, leaving them reeling. Saeed Chithari (12) and Riyaz Mohammed (25 off 16) fought back, but wickets tumbled regularly, preventing any meaningful partnerships.
The lower order offered little resistance. Jabbar Ponganam was run out cheaply, Sulthan Siqhandar fell lbw for a duck, and Sujith SLS was caught for nought. Despite Ramsheed K M’s fighting 9, the innings ended tamely at 113 all out. The Bulls’ inability to build partnerships was their undoing. Though Vimal (3/26) and Sulthan Siqhandar (3/35) had earlier restricted the Legends with the ball, their batting crumbled under scoreboard pressure. In the end, it was a case of promise unfulfilled, as the Bulls lacked the composure to challenge the target.
