In a gripping You Selects Weekdays – C Division Season 4 Final at DCS You Selects Arena 2, Legends Cricket Club 2.0 produced a polished, well-paced chase to defeat Splendid CC (UCT) by seven wickets. The afternoon fixture on 17 November 2025 delivered clean hitting, sharp wicket-taking spells, and a fitting Player of the Match performance from Shiyad Meleveetill, who played a defining hand in both innings.

Splendid CC batted first and posted a competitive 192/7, riding on a blend of aggression and anchoring roles. Captain Sachin Virsingh began positively before being bowled for 31, but the innings gained structure through Aneesh (34 off 23 balls) and the fluent Nabeel Abdul Gafoor, who crafted a superb 58 off 36 balls, featuring six boundaries and two sixes.Nabeel’s stroke-making held the innings together, especially in the middle overs, where Splendid CC kept the run rate above nine despite losing wickets at regular intervals. The finishing touches came through brief cameos by Ranjith S and Vishu Raj, taking the total just short of 200.
Legends’ bowlers had to weather the assault but found breakthroughs at crucial intervals. Shiyad Meleveetill led the charge with a decisive 3/35, removing both the captain and Nabeel at important stages and breaking promising stands. Safeer Khan (2/32) added pressure with timely strikes, while Saheer Mohammed kept the scoring in check by conceding just 22 in his three overs. Despite some expensive overs across the innings, Legends kept composure and ensured Splendid CC didn’t run away to a 210+ total.

Chasing 193, Legends 2.0 started with authority. Jibs set the tone with a crisp 47 off 28 balls, striking nine boundaries and dismantling the new-ball pair. Shibu Backer followed with a quickfire 28, pushing Legends past 70 inside the seventh over. The real grip on the chase came from Saeed Chithari, who remained unbeaten on 53 off 33 balls, pacing the innings with assurance, rotating strike, and punishing anything loose. He found the perfect partner in Shiyad Meleveetill, whose blistering 35 off just 19 balls (3 fours, 2 sixes) broke the back of the target. By the time Shiyad departed at 145/3, Legends needed only control — and captain Sajeesh Babu ensured a smooth finish with a calm unbeaten 15 as the team reached 197/3 in 18.2 overs.
Splendid CC’s bowlers struggled to build pressure as boundaries flowed consistently. Aneesh, Deepu, and Vishu Raj managed one wicket each, but the attack lacked the breakthroughs required to stop Legends’ momentum. Too many balls fell in hitting zones, and Legends capitalised emphatically, showing superior game management and impeccable temperament in a high-stakes chase. It was a clinical batting display, built on sharp execution rather than risk.
