Chennai Thalaivas, asked to bat first, struggled to find rhythm against Mumbai’s fiery pace attack. The rest of the lineup crumbled under pressure. Devnath’s spell of 4 for 21 was pure gold, backed by Saheer’s 3 for 25. Ayyappadas Vibin’s sharp glovework, highlighted by a smart catch to remove Rejee Mohan, kept the intensity high. It was a bowling masterclass that left Chennai reeling with no answers.
In reply, Mumbai’s batters made light work of the chase. Sahil Chauhan blazed away with an unbeaten 54 off just 29 balls, showing sublime touch and confidence, while Rehan Sajith’s calm 40 not out anchored the innings beautifully. Skipper Prado added a brisk 38, setting up the chase before departing to a reflex catch-and-bowl by Bala. The Rangers cruised to victory in just 15.1 overs, sealing the game with dominance and flair.
Chennai’s bowlers found no breakthrough rhythm, with none able to contain the flow of boundaries. Despite flashes of intent, their attack lacked the bite to derail Mumbai’s confident pursuit. The Thalaivas’ fielding, too, couldn’t match the energy of their opponents, rounding off a day that belonged entirely to the Rangers.
