Crazy XI Kollam Sailors Edge Mangalore Masters in Five-Wicket Thriller

Crazy XI Kollam Sailors chased down 161 with four balls to spare, defeating Autodeal MCC Mangalore Masters by five wickets in a high-pressure contest of the Tranquil Developers YouSelects IPL 2025 (Exhibition) at DCS YouSelects Arena 1. It was a match of shifting fortunes, featuring standout batting from Mohammad Shahir and late fireworks from Yuvraj Barua.

The Masters, put in to bat, started brightly through Rahul Shetty, who struck 44 off 31 balls with three fours and two sixes. His opening stand with Farzuk Yusuf (9) gave them a platform before Yusuf fell to Mohamed Khalid. The innings was then anchored by Mohammad Shahir, who produced a classy 64 from 48 deliveries. With five fours and three sixes, he kept the scoreboard moving despite regular wickets around him.

Shahir’s partnership with Ajay (25 off 17) lifted the total toward respectability, but the Sailors’ bowlers struck back. Mohamed Khalid (2/24) and Mohsen Mattoo (2/27) removed key batters, while Harsh Chhawani chipped in with 1/23. The Masters closed at 160/7, a competitive score but one that felt 10–15 runs light on the fast outfield.

The Sailors’ chase was anything but straightforward. Sheridan Hadfield (31 off 24) played positively before falling to Praatham Mahale. Mukul Maalik (12) and Gurdip Singh Virdi (3) failed to convert, and when Mattoo (22 off 29) departed at 93/4 in the 13th over, the chase hung in the balance. Saqib (20 off 13) added momentum but was dismissed at 101/5, leaving the game finely poised.

Enter Yuvraj Barua. The right-hander smashed an unbeaten 38 off 19 balls, including three fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 200. Supported by Fostus Baby’s 20 not out off 12, Barua took the attack to the Masters’ bowlers, finishing the chase in 19.2 overs at 162/5.

The Masters’ bowlers fought hard—Saneesh Kurian (2/22) and Mahale (2/18) were excellent—but their efforts were undermined by 15 wides. That lack of discipline proved decisive in a tight finish.

Star of the Match – Mohsen Mattoo

Shahir top-scored with a fluent 64 off 48 balls, striking five fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 133.33. He anchored the Masters’ innings from No. 3, holding the batting together while others struggled to convert starts, showcasing his class in a losing cause.

Power Arm – Saneesh Kurian

Autodeal MCC Mangalore Masters
Kurian bowled a superb four-over spell, finishing with 2/22 at an economy of 5.50. He dismissed Mukul Maalik and Saqib, striking at crucial moments. His discipline and control gave the Masters hope, even as extras from other bowlers eroded their grip.

Safe Hands – Saqib

Crazy XI Kollam Sailors
Saqib contributed a critical moment in the field, holding two sharp catches to dismiss Rahul Shetty and Suhail Zaki.
